Marktbericht No. 73-2019 market update Bulgarian sunflower kernels new harvest

2019-10-17 | The price level for sunflower kernels increasing significantly
Last week the Bulgarian Ministry of Agriculture has announced the official crop size for sunflower seeds at 1,6 million mt. This number is clearly behind the previous estimate of 2 million mt.
By now Bulgarian hulling factories have 6–8 weeks experience with raw materials from the new crop. This year the material is extremely dry with only 4–5 percent residual moisture compared to normally 6–7 percent! Due to this dryness, the amount of breakage has increased. The amount of so-called „chips“ has doubled. These poor hulling results have led to a significant price increase in production.

Marktbericht No. 72-2019 market update Chinese pumpkin seeds new harvest

2019-10-16 | Price rally in pumpkin seeds continues unchecked
During our last trip to China in September 209 and our visit at ANUGA we have already reported about a significant price increase for Chinese pumpkin seeds from the new harvest. The variety SHINE SKIN in Grade A quality is no longer on offer. Chinese exporters are overwhelmed with inquiries from Europe but have to decline these requests since there are no suitable raw materials from the new crop available. Only much higher qualities such as Grade A+ and Grade AA are on offer. Price development is now at EURO 2,60 p.kg DDP or higher.
