Following official reports, the economy will be kept running. On Monday our shipper will discuss with personnel how they will organize the transfer to the workplace. At the moment, we cannot predict which consequences these measures have. However, we can confirm that our shipper Sadina has introduced new and expanded hygiene measures into their operations many months ago. This included new aisles into the production layout in order to avoid contamination between sectors. Further on external workforces are no longer allowed on the premises. All external audits have been canceled.

Consumptions in the food industry are changing long-lasting. Bakeries are focussing on the supply of trustworthy food such as bread and bread rolls. It goes together with an increase in oil-bearing seeds (sunflower kernels, pumpkin seeds, linseed, etc.) For confectionery goods, we see a decline in consumption. It affects almonds, hazelnut kernels, etc.!

The crisis regarding coronavirus is expanding rapidly. The closure of all borders on the transit route between Bulgaria and Germany, Austria, the Netherland, and all Scandinavian etc. countries announced by the relevant governments have a direct and massive impact on our day-to-day business with sunflower seeds. Bulgarian forwarding companies have difficulties in finding truck drivers willing to drive into the crisis region in Europe. To encourage drivers, they offer bonus payments.

Our Chinese shippers can no longer offer SHINE SKIN and GWS in Grade A quality which is the main quality consumed in Europe. A-Grade raw materials are sold out in China. Prices for GWS and SHINE SKIN in quality Grade AA are rising at the same time. This quality goes mainly to the US. SHINE SKIN Grade AA costs USD 3.750,00 p.mt, GWS Grade AA USD 3.150,00 and GWS AAA USD 3.300,00 per/mt CFR MEP today.
