2019-08-28 | Midterm market update from my field tour through Chinese pumpkin provinces

2019-08-28 | - Pumpkin seeds from the current harvest almost sold out
- Forecast for the new crop not very promising
- Further price increase for old and new harvest affects all types

Farmers in China will start harvesting their pumpkins within the next 10–20 days. Typhoon Lekima has brought heavy rainfalls to the main cultivation areas Heilongjiang and Inner Mongolia. It is feared that 10 to 15 percent of pumpkins will rot in the fields or be lost due to disease (mould fungus etc.) Beginning of May shallow temperatures has hampered the development of pumpkin plants in Xingjiang.
