According to an article in the online version of the German journal “Spiegel“, from 25 February 2020 Aldi does not rule out supply shortages. „For some products, it is already clear that supply will be reduced for the market launch and that we will see an out-of-stock situation when the demand is high“, explains a spokesperson from Aldi Süd. It is not clear which products will be affected. „We are in direct communication with our suppliers and will assess the situation for each product individually“, was the official statement.

2019-02-13 | Coronavirus shows a negative impact on trade with Chinese pumpkin seeds. Price levels may rise further in the country of origin as well as on the relevant spot market.
Our Chinese shipper reports on more and more shortages in trading pumpkin seeds. Banks are closed and work in shipping ports has almost stopped. The Chinese government has extended the „Chinese New Year“ holiday and introduced a 14 days quarantine before staff can go back to work. In the provinces, people are only allowed to leave their homes for food shopping. Otherwise, they are asked to stay at home. In most provinces, factories are still closed.

Chinese are already in the “Chinese New Year“ mood. Official holidays start Friday this week. Price quotations have stabilized on a high level. SHINE SKIN Grade A is almost sold out. The cheaper quality is called Grade A+, containing a much higher amount of Grade AA than the known Grade A material. For a certain period of time, GWS Grade A was a well-priced alternative. By now, available materials are traded and prices are on SHIN SKIN level!

The prices for sunflower kernels, chips, semi-hulled, and Black-In-Shell have increased by 30 percent over the last few weeks. Farmers in Bulgaria and Rumania currently don´t offer any available raw materials. The US experiences an open-ended rally in prices.
