Marktbericht No. 59 update Chinese new crop pumpkin seed kernels

2018-10-10 | During the last week we are trying to confirm a deal for 2 fcl new crop Snow White in-shell with no success. This variety will be grown only in Heilongjiang. Heavy rainfalls have destroyed the new crop and pumpkin are rotten in the field.

Marktbericht No. 58 update Turkish Sultanas + Thompsons new crop

2018-10-05 | Inflation in Turkey increases dramatically with 17,9 percent in August this year. Currently we are already at 25,5 percent by now. Prices for transport and logistics even rose by 36,61 percent. Interest rate is currently at 24 percent. Since the latest interest increase Turkish Lira stabilized at TRY 6,00 for 1 USD. Before this intervention of Turkish Central Bank Turkish Lira was in free fall with TRY 7,1048 for 1 USD, an all-time low in 2018.

Market update No. 57 update Turkish sultanas/raisins

2018-09-17 |  Last Thursday the Turkish central bank increased the main interest rate with 6,25 % from 17,75 % up to 24%. This has stopped the decrease of Turkish Lira temporary down to TRY 5,95 for 1 USD. Thius morning we are at TRY 6,2674 for 1 USD again.

Market update No. 54 update Türkische Sultanas

2018-09-06 | Yesterday we have returned from a 4 days trip to Turkey! Due to the very difficult situation with Turkish exporters for sultanas/raisins we published a preliminary report last Tuesday. Since 1995 we have visited Turkish growing areas on a regular basis and often experienced unusual market conditions; but we have never seen a comparable situation.

The harvest is finished to 90 percent. Almost no fresh grapes can be found in dry beds in the region of Turgutlu. In the region of Manisa there is still some work to do for the farmers and grapes are in drying beds for further drying. The following description is based on our personal, direct experience on-site.
